Have your digital recruitment campaigns stood out from the rest this year?
To be crowned winners of Best Digital Creative 2018, it’s about true quality of content. Did you demonstrate originality? And how did your creative execution engage with your target audience?
As with any campaign, the proof is in the pudding on whether you fulfilled the brief. If you can explain the overall objectives, how you achieved those objectives and if you can show a return on investment – then you’ll be on your way to wooing the judges at this year’s judging panel.

Quarterly figures released by the Office for National Statistics last week showed that unemployment in Scotland fell by 1,000 to 112,000.
The increase in Scottish employment rates however is not reflective of the number of Scots who are on the lookout for a new role. In the same month that s1jobs celebrated its 17th birthday, records were broken – with 1 million visitors recorded in January.
Over 63,000 bold and brave Scots visited the site in just one day as they looked to further their career. With over 20,000 Scottish vacancies in January across 36 different sectors, with growth in vacancies in Accountancy, Financial Services, Marketing, Production and Retail. s1jobs continues to attract the masses, with jobseekers able to find many quality mid-levels roles as well as entry level and part-time vacancies with many large national employers.

s1jobs welcomes International HR Expert, Matt Alder in a series of guest blogs.
Employer Branding has never been more critical. Long-term skill shortages, uncertainty around immigration and the challenges created by digital transformation means that an ever growing number of employers are finding it difficult to attract the talent they need to their businesses. In such a candidate driven market, companies must offer a compelling and persuasive case to convince the best people to join them, and a strong employer brand is critical to achieving this.

For many of us one of the joys of coming to work is the interaction with our colleagues.
Some workers spend time glued to a screen and wearing a set of headphones so they can more easily talk to customers. It’s a necessity for call and contact centre staff who must focus intently on consumers.
Now, however, enlightened employers are recognising cherished employees also need to talk to each other.
So they’ve introduced a daily ‘huddle’ at the start of every shift, when teams can get together, be briefed on the latest company news and – most importantly – chat about what’s going on in their own lives.

Bosses everywhere want to keep their top employees happy. As happy as Pharrell Williams opening his royalty cheques.
That’s because when you’re happy, you’re not only doing great work but likely to stick around for longer.
Any manager worth their salt knows building a dream team is tough if your line-up keeps changing.
And when the cost of replacing an employee comes in at more than £30,000, it’s no wonder good staff are worth their weight in gold: they need to be treasured, polished and allowed to shine.

Dancing. It takes skill, patience and whole lot of practice to ensure everyone stays in formation and knows what they’re expected to do.
It’s much like HR, in fact.
Where the most valuable asset of any company is its people, retention of staff is crucial. Equally, so is defining roles so that the entire team moves and operates like a perfectly choreographed line dance.
Achieving this means delivering training, learning and professional development for all employees, from new recruits to upper management.

I’m amazed at how quickly 2015 vanished, it was a very eventful year which saw s1jobs enjoy a stellar period of growth, and the success story continues! I’m delighted to tell you that we have had a fantastic start to the New Year already. In January we saw a record number of 748,371 unique job seekers visit s1jobs, that’s a notable 8% increase on our previous record in January 2013.
Not only that, we are now exceeding over 200,000 applications every month. Its great news for Scottish jobs and job seekers alike to see such volume. We expected the beginning of the New Year to be busy with job seekers as normal, but we’ve been blown away with the high volume of activity. We also continue to receive much more Scottish traffic than any other job board, almost 600,000 visits more than our closest competitor. But the stand out fact for me is, we have more direct employer vacancies in Scotland than any other job board.

2014 in shaping up to be a great year for Scottish recruitment. At the beginning of the year during the s1 recruitment awards I predicted that the ‘false’ economic starts seen previously would be a thing of the past.
Leading indicators such as consumer and business confidence, stock markets, money supply and construction tells us that there is serious momentum in the Scottish economy. Importantly, employment levels in Scotland have exceeded those of before the 2008 market crash. This is great news for us in recruitment because it gives us the opportunity to look forward without constantly having to look over our shoulders with fear.
