Two new partners as EY expands

ACCOUNTANCY firm Ernst & Young (EY) has recruited two partners to expand its government and public-sector practice in Scotland.

Stephen Reid has joined from KPMG to lead EY’s Scottish public-sector and education assurance teams.

Neil MacLean will take charge of its advisory team in Scotland.

Mr Reid played a key role in producing the Audit Scotland report about Scotland’s public finances, Preparing For the Future, during a part-time secondment to the public body in 2009.

Marketing Edinburgh’s new man

MARKETING Edinburgh has appointed Paul Wakefield as its new head of marketing and commercial.

Mr Wakefield has spent more than 14 years in marketing, communications and senior management roles with companies such as Bell Ingram, Maximillion Events and Scottish Land & Estates.

He will focus on business development and revenue growth as part of the extended remit his new role entails, including the development of the new Marketing Edinburgh Corporate Partnership.

ACCOUNTANCY firm Baker Tilly promoted David Morris to director of its technology services team.

Mr Morris will be responsible for IT services in Scotland and the north of England, with a remit to expand the team to expand the service it offers.

He moves into the role with 27 years experience in IT, internal audits and general business consultancy in a range of sectors.

Mr Morris joined Baker Tilly last year when the firm merged with RSM Tenon.

Steve Snaith, IT Assurance Partner for Baker Tilly said: “David’s well-deserved promotion is a credit to his hard work, technical expertise and commitment, and I am sure he will play an important role as we seek to expand our IT services across the North of England and Scotland.”

WSP hands Dunbar UK role

WSP, the professional services consultant, has appointed Glasgow-based Pete Dunbar to the new post of deputy operations director for the company’s UK structures arm.

Mr Dunbar has been with the company since 2006, most recently leading its Scottish structural business. The growth of that division has been underlined by several new appointments, including the arrival of John Cox from URS as the senior technical director in the team.

Matthew Petticrew has also joined the team as associate director from his role at Edinburgh-based Elliot & Company, where he developed specialist skills in historic buildings.
