Gavin_picIt is impossible to talk about July without talking about the main focal point – Glasgow 2014.  This great event dominated conversation, roads and pretty much everything in Scotland for the 11 days.  But it has also left behind an inspiring legacy which will remain for a long time to come.

Its main legacy for me is the sense of pride that Scotland felt at pulling off these games.  The organisers and the 46,500 people who were involved in the games did us proud.  Few words stand out when I think of the games themselves  – inclusion, friendly and by god what a recruitment effort!

Expert Interview: Disability and Employment

Two on board

TWO new appointments have been announced by Scottish law firm Morisons.

Karen Wooton has joined the private client team in Glasgow, and will specialise in working with carers, older people and those living with learning and physical difficulties.

Ms Wooton was previously head of private client at NewLaw Scotland and an associate with McKinstry Company in Ayr.

Morven Douglas has also joined the Glasgow office, taking up the post of associate within the firm’s family team. Ms Douglas is an accredited specialist in family law and joins from Balfour and Manson in Edinburgh.

Strengthening team

CHARTERED surveying firm Graham and Sibbald has made a raft of senior promotions at its Glasgow office.

Lesley ­Goodfellow, has been promoted to head of lease consultancy a year after joining the firm.

Liam Loudon, Andrew Thomson and Kerri McGuire have been promoted to associate level from the commercial, building surveying and planning departments.

Chloe Flower, meanwhile, has been recruited as a ­graduate planner from Dundee University.

Partner Calum Campbell said: “With signs of an improving market we are looking to invest in our key personnel and I am delighted to announce four senior promotions in our Glasgow office.

Eureka moment

Jacqueline Reid joins the East Kilbride firm from Logitech, where she was marketing communications manager.
