New commercial director for Ogilvie

OGILVIE Construction has boosted its senior team by hiring George Mackie as commercial director.

Mr Mackie, a construction sector veteran, will oversee estimating, pre-construction and surveying in his new role.

He joins Ogilvie with a track record of more than 35 years in the industry, having held boardroom positions in the last 13.

Donald MacDonald, managing director of Ogilvie Construction, said: “I’m delighted to welcome George to the business. His appointment is part of our strategy for continued growth and development of our operations as we continue to see some signs of a recovery in the construction sector.

“George is an important addition to the team, which is focussed on delivering the highest standards of quality and service to customers.”

Larkin goes to salmon company

THE Scottish Salmon Company has hired Fiona Larkin as finance director.

Ms Larkin joins the company from Intergen UK, where she was director of business performance and financial planning and analysis. Before that she was group financial controller.

Ms Larkin worked at Franklin Temple Investments as deputy European financial controller and internal audit manager, and PricewaterhouseCoopers as a management consultant. She completed her accountancy training at Coopers & Lybrand and is a member of the Scottish Institute of Chartered Accountants.

Accountant boosts tax and finance teams

ACCOUNTANCY firm ­Johnston Carmichael has made two senior appointments to its tax and corporate finance teams.

VAT specialist Fiona Weir has joined as a director in the tax team, to deal with clients from the firm’s Edinburgh and Aberdeen offices.

Stephen Paterson has been recruited to the corporate finance team, working in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
